The list of platforms and depth of information on each is well-researched. However, the bucketing of consumer finance between balance sheet and hybrid platforms is not as definite as this report shows, with those lines beginning to blur.
Regarding small business platforms, there are many more balance sheet platforms than are listed here, although the report has managed to cover most of the largest platforms. We also challenge the actual “marketplace” practice of some of the small business platforms that primarily function as loan aggregators, adding very little additional filtering or value on top of little or no technology.
In future versions, further detailed information on the originating banks, service providers, credit bureaus, and trade associations would be a strong request. However, this is still one of the most comprehensive reports we have seen on the US marketplace lending industry to date.
